Historical veneer in 2 degrees

The brief given by Mark Cleary, Chief Sales Officer for 2 degrees required a Kiwi Backyard look; warm and inviting, with the ambiance of home. In keeping with this, New Improved Architecture sought the warmth of natural wood veneer, native to New Zealand. What better fit than Bestwood Matai a Kiwi iconic veneer, recognisable through its historical use in New Zealand homes.

Bestwood recommended the use of this species for its warm honey colour, sustainable qualities and beautiful crowning effects. The first store to be completed at Silvia Park, Mt Wellington was the proud achievement of Cemac Interiors, Grey Lynn, Auckland. Who’s attention to detail was key in producing this outstanding result from a challenging specification.

The cylindrical pods required perfect colour and grain matching of the raw material into a bendy ply that would achieve the 360 degree circumference on the vertical face. The resulting look exceeded the expectations of the customer. There is nothing clinical or sterile about the interior, instead it aligns perfectly with 2 degrees brief; to provide a down to earth kiwi look, reminiscent of a warm and inviting home, at an affordable price.
