Michael Eden – President

Michael EdenGDM Group is a specialist retail systems manufacturer established in 1978 by Michael Eden supplying leading retailers in New Zealand and Australia. Michael believes one of the strengths of NZRIA is in networking. Michael is a keen golfer and enjoys racing classic motorcars.


Mark Tyrrell – Vice President

Mark TyrellMark Tyrrell is the only South Island based member on the executive and is a director of Miller Studios Ltd, a design driven shopfitting and signage company established in 1913. Mark manages the Christchurch branch of the company, while his three co-directors are based in Dunedin, enabling thorough control over any South Island contract and the resources to offer a nation-wide service. Mark is also a professional member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors.


David Muir

David Muir Following experience in both the UK and NZ, David Muir formed ellerymuirassociates with Mark Ellery in late 1996. He enjoys project variety, while specialising in retail design. David is a past executive and Professional member of DINZ, and enjoys the importance of the NZRIA as a representative body offering great networking opportunities across all disciplines.


Nick Turpin

Nick TurpinNick immigrated to NZ from the UK in 1994 with a background of 8 years in design and architectural model-making. Once in NZ Nick made the transition to cabinet-making and spent the next 10 years learning the cabinet-making and shop-fitting trade, from grass roots level to becoming the Director of his own company Dimension Shopfitters (2004) Ltd. In a short time Nick has taken his company to new heights within the shop-fitting industry – Nationwide. He enjoys the challenge of translating designers’ concepts into working installations. He brings to the table his broad experience in design, manufacturing and shop-fitting which has helped him to achieve his company’s success. Nicks leisure time is spent with his wife and kids and would love to fit in more time for sailing.


Lisa Douglas

Lisa DouglasIn a retail career spanning 19 years Lisa has been instrumental in the rebranding, repositioning, promotional and retail environment design for many of New Zealand’s best retailers. Her pragmatic approach to the environment from a customer’s perspective (both external and internal) means that no opportunity goes untouched to ensure maximum shopper enjoyment and optimal operational efficiency in store.

She has held senior management roles and consulted in a number of iconic retailers including Farmers Trading Company, Noel Leeming and Bond & Bond, Warehouse Stationery and Repco. Her award-winning approach to store transformation is well recognised ensuring that every cent spent in the store is prudently allocated for optimal ROI. Having worked her way up from the shop floor as a visual merchandiser, Lisa understands the dynamics of a retail environment from both a creative and hands on perspective.
